Hillsborough VINELink Custody Coverage
Florida VINELink runs the state's custody notification service. Its program material promises access around the clock for all 67 county jails, the Florida Department of Corrections, and other participating systems. A toll line backs it up at 1-877-846-3435. That statewide reach matters here. It makes the service a natural fit for a Hillsborough County custody search.
One gap is worth knowing. HCSO publishes no page naming a county-specific VINE feed, local SAVIN brand, or update cycle. So select Florida and Hillsborough County in the live system and test the record yourself. A blank result is not proof that someone is free; call VINE or HCSO instead.
Remember what the service is. VINELink passes along custody data from participating agencies. It does not own the HCSO arrest record. It also posts no booking-photo gallery and shows no full arrest history. For the official booking and court paths, the Hillsborough County recent-arrests hub is the right stop.
Check a Hillsborough Arrest on VINELink
Search one person at a time. Feed the form every identifier it lawfully allows, because a common name can return several possible matches. Before registering, check that the result lines up with the expected county or facility.
- Open Florida VINELink or call 1-877-846-3435.
- Select Florida, then choose Hillsborough County or the expected facility when offered.
- Enter the person’s name or an official identifying number accepted by the form.
- Review possible matches and compare the custody agency, location, status, and identifier.
- Open the matching record to read current custody information supplied to VINE.
- Use the registration control only after confirming the intended record.
Keep the numbering systems straight. An HCSO booking number, a Clerk case number, and a Florida DC number belong to three different records. When several names match, go back to HCSO Arrest Inquiry for a firmer comparison.
What Hillsborough VINELink Results Show
The fields you see depend on the custody source and the live service. Status and release dates can shift as data updates. Treat a result as a custody tracker, not a certified booking record.
| VINELink item | What it can mean |
|---|---|
| Name or identifier | A match aid that must be compared with the correct agency or facility. |
| Custody status | The state reported by the participating source at its latest update. |
| Custody location | The jail, prison, or participating system reporting the record. |
| Tentative release information | A projected or reported event that may change. |
| Transfer or out-to-court event | A movement notice, not proof that the criminal case is complete. |
| Registration control | The private path for requesting notice of selected custody events. |
VINELink will not hand you a Hillsborough arrest affidavit. You will not see a final judgment or booking-photo collection there either. Those live elsewhere. HCSO owns county booking facts, the Hillsborough Clerk owns court documents, and FDC owns state prison records. Someone released from HCSO can drop off a current custody result while the case is still open in court.
Register for Florida Custody Alerts
Anyone may register, per Florida VINE program material. Family members can each set up separate contact routes, and enrollment stays confidential. The person in custody never learns who signed up. A four-digit PIN protects phone registration.
- Confirm the correct person and custody source in the search result.
- Select the registration or notification control tied to that result.
- Choose the offered phone or email contact method.
- Select the custody events available for that record.
- Create and retain the four-digit PIN used to confirm phone notice.
- Follow the service prompt to complete registration without sharing the PIN publicly.
Florida's program lists several possible notices: release, transfer, escape, out-to-court, and death. The exact options can vary by record. Each alert reflects source-supplied custody data, nothing more. It is no substitute for contacting the agency directly. The VINELink registration interface keeps enrollment separate from the public search.

Note: The registration screen shows the controls without entering or exposing any private phone number, email, or PIN.
Florida VINE’s County-Jail Program
The best local evidence sits in Florida's own program material. VINE serves all 67 county jails. The same material explains confidential registration, PIN use, and the event types behind each alert. That statewide design is the reason to try Hillsborough in the live service. HCSO publishes no implementation page of its own, though. The Florida VINE program explanation lays out the county reach and alert safeguards.

Note: The state source promises county-jail coverage, not instant posting of every new Hillsborough booking.
Fresh Hillsborough Booking Delays
A fresh arrest may take time to surface in VINE. Transport and HCSO intake come first. HCSO itself says its public arrest data updates about 30 minutes after a record enters the Jail Management System. A new entry stays off the general listing for the first 24 hours. An exact-name search may still work, though. VINE can run on its own schedule entirely.
For a fresh county booking, the 24 Hour Arrests name-search workflow is faster. You can also call the jail. The number is (813) 247-8300, shared by Orient Road Jail and Falkenburg Road Jail. A blank VINE result may mean lag, a spelling difference, release, exclusion, a nonparticipating source, or a different custody owner.
Call 911 for any emergency. Non-emergency HCSO service answers at (813) 247-8200, and automated alerts can lag or fail.
Hillsborough County and State Custody
Florida VINE spans county jails and FDC, but those are separate custody layers. A new HCSO booking stays in the county system. A later state-prison sentence may show up in the FDC Offender Search. State supervision can appear there too. The search takes a last name, first name, or DC number. FDC will not confirm a fresh county booking. It also skips ordinary county probation. The official Florida corrections search form displays that state-level scope and its identifiers.

Note: Use the state search only when FDC, not HCSO, is the expected custody owner.
Federal Custody Is Outside VINE
Federal custody works differently. VINELink Florida covers county jails, not federal lockups. A person serving a federal sentence shows up elsewhere. The Bureau of Prisons inmate locator lists anyone doing federal time. ICE detention has its own tool, the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Federal pretrial custody can rest with the U.S. Marshals Service. That side offers no county-style public roster. A Hillsborough arrest alone proves nothing. It does not show a federal charge or an immigration hold.
Match the locator to whoever actually holds the person. When ownership is murky, start with HCSO and ask which agency took a transfer. A missing county or VINE result never means federal custody on its own.
Custody Status Is Not Guilt
VINE answers a custody question. HCSO answers the booking one. Hillsborough's Clerk runs HOVER for whatever the court does next. Charges get reduced, dismissed, or diverted after booking, and a person can leave jail while the case is still open.
The Hillsborough Clerk's docket covers case outcomes. Want the police narrative? Ask the arresting agency for its report, since a VINE alert is a starting point rather than a full history.
